IDEATE Research: AER vs. SteroScope Cycle Cost Comparison
IDEATE cost analysis for a mid-sized Midwest hospital with an inventory of 50 GI endoscopes that performs 40 procedures per day and has 4 automatic endoscope reprocessors (AERs). This site also uses active-force air-drying cabinets for endoscope drying. This analysis compares the cycle cost of one SteroScope and one AER reprocessing 10 scopes per day based on the operational parameters for this hospital. The specific parameters for this hospital used in this analysis were the costs of all capital equipment, equipment maintenance, consumables, and labor required.
The significant costs required for AER infrastructure were not included in the cycle cost analysis (e.g., critical water source, filtration, drainage, etc.). Those details are included in this presentation as a reference.
