Florencia Chicatun

VP R&D, Co-Founder

Dr. Florencia Chicatun is an accomplished research and development leader with more than 15 years of experience advancing medical technology innovation from concept to commercialization. Her career spans multidisciplinary work in biomaterials engineering, medical device design, and laboratory-based product development.

As Vice President of R&D and Co-Founder at Ideate Medical, Florencia oversees all research and development programs, guiding cross-functional teams through product design, validation, and regulatory readiness. She played a central role in the development of Ideate’s Stereoscope™ terminal sterilization system, including regulatory validation work supporting its FDA clearance.

Prior to Ideate Medical, Florencia held research and leadership positions at THORASYS Medical Systems and IED3, where she directed R&D for medical and laboratory equipment and helped establish robust development processes in emerging MedTech organizations. Earlier in her career, she conducted advanced materials research at McGill University and Imperial College London, contributing to several peer-reviewed publications, a book chapter, and a patent in the field of biomaterials and tissue engineering.

Florencia holds a Ph.D. in Materials Engineering (Biomaterials) and a Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering. Multilingual in English, French, and Spanish, she is recognized for combining deep scientific expertise with strong project leadership and hands-on technical execution to deliver high-impact innovation in healthcare.
